These routes are Naro Moru Route, the Sirimon Route and the Chogoria Route. Mount Kenya is the second highest mountain in Africa. From Nairobi, Mt Kenya is around a 4 hours drive.

The Sirimon Route is the most popular ascent as the altitude gain is nice and steady and it offers one of the most beautiful approaches to the peaks.

The Naro-Moru Route is the most popular descent route, fast and easy (at least on the way down!). The vegetation is at its most striking on this route.

The route passes through the notorious vertical bog section which gets much waterlogged in the rainy seasons.

The Chogoria Route: If you have more time then choose dramatic Chogoria route over Naro Moru for the descent. The Chogoria route passes by tarns, waterfalls and an incredible gorge.

Whether you would like to hike, trek, climb or watch wildlife and plants on the mountain, our short overnight trips to Mt Kenya will suit your individual needs.

2 Days 1 Night Climbing Mount Kenya Naro Moru Route; Naro Moru Route is most popular of all the routes that lead up to Mount Kenya.

It is the steepest and the fastest way up Mt Kenya and ascends the mountain from the west. The route is not particularly scenic but has some of the best accommodations up the mountain.

Most climbers begin at the park gate, although it is possible to drive a vehicle as far as the Met station (3050 meters). Among the challenges in this route include the vertical bog and the extremely steep trail on looses gravel while going up.

Out of the three popular routes up the mountain, the Naro Moru route is the closest to Nairobi (3 Hours drive). Naro Moru Park Gate situated about 175 kilometers from Nairobi and 15 kilometers from Naro Moru town.

It is therefore the natural choice for hikers if you are coming from Nairobi. Along the way, you are likely to encounter troops of Colobus monkeys commonly found in the forest zone.

Other wildlife to watch out for includes Elephants and Buffaloes, commonly found in both the forest and bamboo zones.
